Google Drive for Substitute Teachers & TAs
Substitutes:
As a G Suite (Google for Education) school district, all of our staff members have the ability to share files and resources with one another via Google Drive. In an attempt to make it easier for teachers to leave robust plans, and for substitutes to access said plans, we have set up generic G Suite accounts for substitute teachers and TAs in all of our buildings. By utilizing folders shared with these generic accounts, teachers can drop in lesson plans and other resources for their substitutes to use.
For now, things are made a bit more complicated by the fact that substitutes, just like our other staff members, actually have two sets of login credentials, network and Google. When you visit the main office on your way to your assigned classroom, you will be given a card with both sets.
If the classroom you are in has a presentation center (projected computer, SmartBoard, etc.) or a PC on the teacher's desk, you will need to use the network login for that. This username and password combination is only used to get a PC up and running. Once you are on the computer, you will not use it again.
The Google account is used to log into the substitute Drive account. Drive is like a virtual filing cabinet, and in this case is being used to hold and share lesson plans. To get to those plans, you will follow the instruction sheet given to you at the main office, and use the Google account credentials listed on the account card.
This is the document that you should receive at the main office with instructions for signing into Drive, accessing a teacher's plans, and, if necessary, printing files from the Drive. Although this document is the one for FA teacher subs, the directions are exactly the same, no matter which building, and holds for teacher and TA substitutes. Just use the username and password given to you in the main office for that building's substitute Google account.
